Is That It? – Scene 3: Images of War

Two months into the session a group of girls chose to improvise around racism. The pleasure in expressing racist remarks, even ‘fictional’ remarks, made me very uneasy. Our workshops coincided with the Auschwitz exhibition in 1983. I tried for maximum emotional impact with minimal non-sensational imagery. In the film I give a brief and factual account of Hitler’s fascist policy – on simple cards. a child could have done them. The cards counterpoint the workshop improvisations. – W.T.
