About our collection

The LUX collection is the UK’s largest collection of artists’ moving image by more than 1000 international artists, with over 6,000 works dating from the 1920s to the present, and it continues to grow with the addition of new works by contemporary artists and restorations of historic works. The collection is available for loan for screenings and exhibitions in the UK and internationally. Many of these can be viewed in the LUX library for research purposes.

How to view

LUX offers onsite viewing of its collection which is available during exhibition opening times. A complete list of moving image works is available in our online catalogue, but please note that not all works are available to view at short notice. To arrange a viewing please email [email protected]

Access Information

As an organisation we strive towards greater accessibility and a more equitable future, working hard to make our space more accommodating, safer and inclusive for everyone. We recognise that this process can take time due to the scale of our collection and limited resources. We appreciate your understanding and patience whilst we embark on this project.

Captions and Audio-Description:

There are a number of works in our collection that include captions and/or audio-description. If you rely on those to access films, please [email protected] and we will be able to offer more information about available works.

Sensory sensitivity:

Please note that some of the works in our collection might not be entirely suitable for people with multiple sensory sensitivities, epilepsy, chronic migraine and more. We are continuously working to include sensory annotations in our collection. For now, if you would like to view our collection on-site and have sensory access needs, please [email protected], and we’ll be able to offer more information, support and advice.
