I met young people in the workshop sessions. I picked up on their conversations, listened to their music, looked at their scrawls and their pictures. But in the film I chose to frame their material rather than simply present it. I overlaid cards, shapes, statistics. I felt I hadn’t formed a close relationship to those coming. The film opens up the attempts to communicate in a group where different classes, races, ages meet. – W.T.
