An experimental narrative, Begin-Now-What Will Be is about a film director proposing a story, woven with voices and images suggested by that story. – O.S.
‘Begin-Now-What Will Be is a kind of short story, a brilliant weaving together of different frames of time, space and narrative. (1) A professor of creative writing (or film composition) gradually formulating a story situation, (2) whispered voices which will ultimately identify themselves as belonging to characters in the story being suggested, (3) blurred images which, in their reappearances gradually resolve themselves into a visualisation of the action first sketched in by the lecturer, and (4), it would seem, the voice of the writer (or filmmaker) thinking about his composition.’ – Edgar Daniels, Filmmakers Newsletter, July 1977.
