Professional Practice: Working with Producers

Jacqui Davies is a London-based producer and curator. Since 1997, Davies has worked internationally with artists on projects involving film and video. Working independently across all platforms – producing, commissioning and curating – Davies has facilitated projects for cinema, television, galleries, site-specific, stage, and online. Davies is the Producer of Ben Rivers’ Artangel / BFI funded film The Sky Trembles and the Earth is Afraid and the Two Eyes Are Not Brothers (2015), Ray & Liz: a feature film by artist Richard Billingham, and feature-film, Lockvögel (Decoys), by artist and filmmaker Redmond Entwistle. She was the Associate Producer on Phillip Warnell’s feature film, Ming of Harlem, which won the George Beauregard Prize at FID Marseille 2014. Marie Logie is the director of Auguste Orts, a Brussels-based production and distribution platform Auguste Orts is founded by Herman Asselberghs, Sven Augustijnen, Manon de Boer and Anouk De Clercq. Following her Master’s degree in History at the Ghent University, she worked at the documentation department of Cinematek Brussels, the media department of  M HKA Antwerp and the audiovisual department of BAM, the Flemish institute for visual, audiovisual and media art. She is a co-founder and ex-coordinator of the Ghent-based Courtisane festival for film, video and media art. Kate Parker works as a Producer and Production Manager for artists’ film projects, working independently and as director of City Projects. With City Projects she is currently working with Lucy Parker on the film Blacklist, looking at blacklisting in the construction industry, and on a research project with Dan Ward critically examining the current conditions for production. Producer credits for independent projects include Electrical Gaza by Rosalind Nashashibi (2015, 17’), commissioned by Imperial War Museum and Piercing Brightness by Shezad Dawood (2013, 78’), commissioned by In Certain Places, Preston and distributed by Soda Pictures. Production Manager credits include Eglantine by Margaret Salmon (2016, 70’), which premiered at London Film Festival 2016 and Bang! by Matthew Noel-Tod (2012, 23’), commissioned by Chisenhale Gallery and Victoria Park. City Projects has produced three films with Film London Artists’ Moving Image Network – Tenant by Grace Schwindt (2012, 78’); Fulll Firearms by Emily Wardill (2011, 86’) and The Empty Plan by Anja Kirchner & David Panos (2010, 78’), which was the basis for their Jarman Award. www.cityprojects.org www.blacklistfilm.co.uk
