In half a dozen dream-like sequences, Mission explores the ritual choreography of a crowded formal reception. The expensively attired, racially mixed guests drift in and out of the frame, studiously avoiding the assault of the camera eye. Yet what at first seems random movement gradually betrays a curious synchronicity. Mingling with the throng, yet mysteriously set apart from it, is a handsome young diplomat whom we creep upon by stages and would almost suppose to have earmarked for ourselves.
