‘Passage of time is the theme of Surge: the images are untenable, the screen proves to be too small, as it blots out the images within time, lets them disappear from left to right, even within a blink they crash. The viewer regrets the sudden disappearance of the image and would like to hold them longer than the linear dictates of the medium allow. In cinema it is the same, only that one can’t see it because editing technique and the viewer’s perspective hide the trick.’ – Matthias Groll
