Having spent some time with Video West in San Francisco, Flaxton, Deadman and Cooper generated a work (partially in homage to John Smith) which was humorously critical of the act of making a travelogue and documentary. As the main character says: ‘find me a black jewish, lesbian, anarchist to present – I have an english video crew coming in to town – and you know what they’re like… ‘ Documentary Rape was made half way through shooting ‘Towards Intuition’ an art documentary.
