A stream of language forms the textual part of a collaborative artist’s book (with Andrew Bick): “a voice in the shape of a window I open the window I confront the sky said corse the voice not the…” The book was transposed into an audio work which later became the video’s soundtrack. The video uses the book’s pages (each containing a block of text and corresponding image) as its ground-bass, out of which both still images and live-action footage interweave. We watch, listen and “read” with a compounded sense of difficulty, but the difficulty can be attenuated if we ignore the semantics of language & image and focus instead on the music of desire and lust, the rhythms that play havoc with our senses. The sense of meaning emerges later, in the aftermath of desire.
