Paris-Franprix reaches into the lap of death, into the crumbling 20th arrondissement in Paris and its local supermarket franchise. The unsolicited social and economic networks that surround a supermarket become a site for looking at memory, respect, hope and despair as the product is followed from its 8am bulk delivery to its 8pm disposal and eventual consumption. The street and supermarket stage a Grand Guignol as a regular consumer passes on her intimate wisdom to the accompaniment of an organ grinder’s burlesque horror. Her love for the street folds back onto her body as she pronounces her street and situation completely dead.
