A structured progression from Maja Replicate. The ‘gate’ is the film-printer gate through which light passes onto the film stock to be printed. ‘Green’ is the colour of the filter used in printing the first section. This film was intended to be made ‘in the gate’ as a present time process and consists of black and white footage manipulated in two different ways: 1- footage of a white blob (paint mark?) on a flat black tiled surface was ‘slipped’ roughly up and down- single frames of a body are frozen in the gate. Originally intended as a double screen film for expanded cinema events I now prefer it as a single screen film. – F.D.
