Susan Derges’ stunning photographic videowork Embodied uses time lapse and slow-motion images of hatching spawn as it’s metaphoric vehicle – the ‘one’ that becomes the ‘many’; the emergence of the individual from the ‘ground’. An egg passes through the first stages of cell division and embryonic development to share space with the ghostly traces of moving tadpoles, departing from the screen as fully formed frog.
