Chantal after James Bidgood and Jean Genet is a video filmed and edited within Transmission Gallery, Glasgow, as part of the exhibition But what was most awful was a girl who was singing. Inspired by filmmaker James Bidgood’s failed pornographic adaptation of Jean Genet’s The Balcony, the video alters the story of Genet’s play to let the character Chantal live and win. The footage used was shot entirely through reflections on mylar.
