Something is Happening (In Four Episodes)

A serial about serials in 4 episodes. Jack, Lucy, Bud, Doug and Julie with the Doctor, receptionist and George, provide the characterisation.
Episode 1: THE SURPRISE VISIT, 4 mins
Introducing Lucy, George, Jack and Julie, but the party is a flop. Doug wants a game of draughts but Bud has better things to do.
Episode 2: COOKIE BUSINESS, 3 mins
Bud, Jack, Julie and George are kept busy while Lucy makes a visit to Mr Mortimer.
Episode 3: THE ACCIDENT, 4 mins
Doug and Bud plan a match. Lucy and Jack don’t see eye to eye – he’s feeling neglected. George has had enough as materialism rears its ugly head, all of which inspires Julie to act.
Episode 4: BIG DEAL, 3mins
Doug gives Julie the creeps as Lucy’s independence almost ruins Julie’s careful plans with Bud. Lucy has a flashback – but will she stand by Jack?
A progressive narrative gives the impression that Something is Happening…,we need to be continually reminded of what has happened in order to enjoy what is happening, especially if nothing much has happened in the first place.
The format offers an interesting flexibility in screenings, it can also be used to provoke discussion around soap opera and serials.
