Born Alan James Edwards Holmes and Alan James Edward Taylor, Al + Al met in Derek Jarman’s garden in Dungeness, having respectively studied theology and worked in fashion. They studied together at Central St Martins School of Art and Design in London, where they have since returned as visiting lecturers, before going on to exhibit their videos internationally in festivals, galleries and screenings.
