” Gweilo” in Cantonese means ghost; the term of abuse used about the pale skinned, white eyed foreigners from the West. The videotape presents a picture of Hong Kong from the point of view of one of those Ghosts; a city of electric light and vast collisions of scale. But it also hints at other ghosts. The ghost of the now abandoned Kai Tak airport, the ghost of British colonial rule, and maybe of history itself.
