Leaving the Old Ruin is a sea journey; a passage from past to future, from dark to light. An evocation of a haunted personal/collective memory. It examines the state of a social/personal consciousness in transit between a collapsed past and utopic future. It fluctuates between loss and pain and hope. Tracing the relationship between landscape and history as it reflects through the distorting prism of memory, Leaving the Old Ruin uses video processing and editing which follows the patterns and mechanism of memory; the way it attacks, the way an image triggers a cluster of images. Soundtrack by Stuart Jones.
