Doris is the first issue in a series of publications – organised by Soft Fiction Projects – presenting artists responses to selected contemporary and modern writers. Each writer is chosen for their unique approach to the reterritorialization of language and illustrating a connection of the individual to a political immediacy. The artist contributions are a collective assemblage of enunciation responding to these themes. For this publication we asked selected artists – Rosa Barba, Aideen Doran, Jacqueline Holt, Rosie O'Grady, Valentina Roselli, Anahita Razmi and Sofia Silva – to produce a visual response to the life and works of Doris Lessing.Soft Fiction Projects is an artist run initiative founded in 2018 by artists Alessia Cargnelli and Emily McFarland.Soft Fiction Projects is based between Belfast and Glasgow, dedicated to producing digital and printed matter on film and artist moving image culture. The printed project acts as a forum for presenting new collaborations, artworks, research and writing from invited artists and contributors.
