Marianne Heske

Mariannne Heske has been one of the most important artists in Norway since the 1970’s, her practice incorporates installations, photographs, land art and video.

Heske was born in 1946 Aalesund, Norway, she studied at The National College of Art and Design, Bergen, Norway between 1967-71. After she attended the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts, Paris from 1971 to 75, and the Royal College of Art in London, between 1975-76 and finalized her studies in the Jan van Eyck Academie, in Maastricht,1976-79.

Her work has been presented in several Bianales, including Paris, 1980, Venice, 1986 and São Paulo, 1996.

Her work has been shown internationally, in institutions such as ICA in London, PS1 in New York, Kunstlerhaus Bethaniel in Berlin, Gulbenkian Foudation in Lisbon and Shanghai Duolon Museum of Modern Art.

Heske’s work is part of several collections, including City of Oslo Art Colectors, Parc de la Villete, Paris and Shanghai City Art Collection.
