UPROOTED. A film about where the artist was born and grew up. The film is a poetic response to childhood, growing up in Guyana and leaving once my parents retired.Within a poetic register, the work also combines, ecological issues, Jim Jones, observations travelling in one of the last pristine rain forests in the world and is also about loss, memory and the calling that the place you are born in and grow up in exerts on you. Of course, when one returns everything has changed, and so have you as a person, but the affinity and the affection are still very powerful though bitter-sweet feelings.
