A collaboration between filmmaker and scientist Guy Moss which analyses 16mm home movie footage where subjects are members of the filmmakers own family, covering three generations. The original ritual is a backyard gathering in the suburbs of Wisconsin. The filmmaker records a repetition of the days’ activities over thirty years later, exploring how information, cultural and genetic, is handed down from generation to generation. Combining original film with contemporary footage, RITUAL TENDENCIES becomes a unique experimental home movie with its observations of family behaviour and relationships.
