Continuing with an exploration of landscape and concerns with observation, representation and duration, NOVEMBER MORNING also contributes to an ongoing philosophical film enquiry into time-space and an interest in the physics and metaphysics of light. Particularly in the ways in which, through time, changes in light, weather and season, affect the way in which we perceive space and place in film.In a long continuous take filmed on a cold November morning in Cumbria. The video presents the spectator with a real time durational experience of change and visual transformation. As the mist and fog begins to clear more of the landscape is gradually revealed and then obscured once again. A hand held camera is used in the filming process which additionally registers movement in a distinctive way.The acknowledgement of the spectator/viewers position within the cinematic experience is important to my filmmaking approach. This becomes especially relevant to this video with regards to the way in which image and sound work together in an unpredictable way throughout the videos duration, especially the perception of ‘out of frame’ sound.
