My Blood Self is a new body of work based on the idea of an editorial fashion shoot that references imagery of genocide and substandard poverty, juxtaposed with historical images from the Egyptian and Mesoamerica civilizations.
This video painting continues where DARFUR leaves off. It’s simplistic imagery of blood falling onto the soil highlights issues of war and genocide and consequences of extreme poverty e.g. having to experience menstruation in places with a severe lack of sanitation. These issues are faced everyday by women and girls in the Third World.
