This video is derived from a multi-media performance of the same name and was performed in a number of venues around UKAt the time I was pregnant with my first child, Maya; living within a community of artists and local people. I was feeling vulnerable and strong at the same time. I looked outwards and inwards to the Story of June, the imaginary woman who lived opposite. I drew upon my anxieties about becoming a mother and my experience as a child. Yet there is the inner conviction and force to break through unnecessary traditions and conventions … where June will always “stand upon her magic circle” to an inner ancient strength.
