No shadow without light /No light without shadow.This video work was specially commissioned by the Museum of Religious Art in Uden for the chapel of the Birgittine Abbey of Maria Refugie, part of the exhibition “Meditation” by theinternationally renowned visual artist Madelon Hooykaas.Her oeuvre poetically displays images that give the feeling that everything is connected. This video work is based on LIGHT.”Let there be Light” is the beginning of everything on the first day of creation according to the Bible. Light and enlightenment are also an important starting points in other spiritual traditions.The artwork is not about meditation, but hopes to arouse a meditative state of mind in the viewer. The intention of this video is that by looking at the images the viewer becomes onewith the work. The soundtrack has been specially composed for this work from Alpha waves and nature sounds.
