  ,

A humorous and yet oddly jarring glimpse of the early relationship between a mother
and child, exploring notions of control, power, identity and conflict through a dialogue of
discordant and distorted repetition. The viewpoints of both mother and child are presented,
depicting anxiety, oppression, frustration and anger on both sides. Anxiety over a toddler
who won’t eat leads to manic self-doubt in a mother recovering from post-natal depression
and battling with feelings of inadequacy and guilt. Wide-angle and close-up shots add a
disturbing feel, challenging the stereotype image of the calm and patient mother figure.
