Journeys North is a new series filmed in Alaska examining how the indigenous tribes of the Arctic and their culture was forever changed by the explorers and pioneers of the 18th and 19th century and the early ethnographic filmmaking that followed in their wake.
PIONEER is a black and white journey describing a mythological road trip in which the anonymous male protagonist battles against the silent but deadly landscape that surrounds him, as he drives north along the Trans-Alaskan oil pipe from Valdez. to the Arctic ocean. The haunting voice of the female Sami singer guides him through a fairytale land of disorienting reflections and warped time speeds.
