Le Grice depicts the Michael Finnegan of the children’s song (though with Joycean overtones) as he gets up in the morning, shaves the eponymous chin, makes breakfast and prepares to go out. These events are multiply re-enacted, fragmented, rearranged by editing and counterpointed by an equivalent mosaic of mainly disjunctive, unsynchronised sounds, including a variety of monologues by Finnegan and an extensive musical accompaniment, sometimes featuring the ‘theme’ song.
