BRIDGE FARM is a 2 screen film made on a farm in Suffolk in 1979. Two 16mm cameras are placed adjacent to each other and framed to create one continuous panoramic field of vision. Five second takes were made, shot in real time, sampling the light at various times throughout the day but keeping same fixed aperture setting for both cameras. After each take both cameras are paned until the two framed views of the farm and surrounding landscape have exchanged and swapped positions. Each of the cameras are panned in opposite directions one to the right and the other to the left, in gradual movements. Filming with both cameras was started at approximately the same time of the day, after which changes in light resulted in the recording of contrasting light samples which are clearly depicted when projected in the 2 screen format. This experiment engaged with a different way of registering a time-lapse on film and as a result affects the way in which the landscape is represented and perceived by the viewer.
