The sea in motion is one of our primordial images. In ‘Au Deo / Vi Deo ‘, its continuous motion is recorded. The work relates to tide and light changes throughout a twenty-four hour time span; one hour is the equivalent of one minute on the video tape. A live camera looks again at the information, this time the images are taken from a monitor. It becomes further removed from the original as the camera is repeatedly turned off. The sound track is a live mix between the video noise and a loop that sounds like a Buddhist chant, a constant repetition of the words ‘Au Deo Vi Deo ‘.
