“A Spy in the House that Ruth Built” takes the iconography of baseball to upend our assumptions about masculinity. A young woman is desperate to have sex with baseball players, and as the viewer accompanies her on her “lust odyssey”, we gradually realise that something more much profound is at play — not only through a reworking of the sport’s hallowed iconography but also in the delicate revelation of emotions around father/daughter relationships.
