Recital

  ,

‘I co-opted a bystander in a Brighton tv studio to play the piano. I knew he couldn’t really play it very well. He plays it like the percussive instrument it is. “Just make it rhythmic” I said. There are elements of forced entertainment – the fairy lights around the screen and the vision mixing of three cameras ‘played’ by me in a way that affirms and contradicts the pendulum swing of the watch and chain. The voice over is similarly mixed as the watch swings through time and the tools of television become the instrument of the recital’
