LUX Critical Forum
LUX Critical Forum
Critical Forum is a monthly discussion group for artists who work with the moving image to talk about ideas and practice in a mutually supportive environment and in dialogue with LUX. There are groups that take place on a monthly basis in London, Glasgow, Dublin, Dundee, Bristol. A new group in Helston (Cornwall) will launch in February 2017.
The London critical forum takes place on the first Monday of every month at the LUX office in London; the Glasgow group meets on the first Tuesday of the month at the Centre for Contemporary Art in Glasgow; and the Dublin group meets on the first Wednesday of the month at Temple Bar Gallery and Studios. The Dundee group meets on the second Tuesday of the month at GENERATOR projects’ Collective Space. The Bristol group is organised in partnership with BEEF (Bristol Experimental Expanded Film). The new Helston group will be hosted by CAST.
The critical forum groups are supported by LUX, CCA Glasgow, Temple Bar Gallery and Studios, GENERATOR projects’ Collective Space, BEEF and CAST (in terms of space, equipment, refreshments, online forum space and advice). However, how the meetings are run and organised is ultimately decided by group members.
The forum is for artists who are no longer in full-time education and who are willing to commit to the group as a participant for a minimum period of six months. The London LUX Critical Forum runs on a yearly basis and will be open to new members in 2017.
The Glasgow and Dundee Critical Forum groups are open and welcome new members. They only require that members commit to attending regular meetings and are prepared to give a presentation to the group within the first 6 months of joining. If you would like to participate in one of the groups in Scotland, please email LUX Scotland.
