Internationally acclaimed experimental filmmaker Sarah Pucill introduces an evening of her 16mm films at the BFI Southbank on Friday 4th February.
Exploring powers of femininity that conjure visions, and cast spells, the haunting of lesbian desire is examined in burlesque fashion in Pucill’s latest work Phantom Rhapsody (16mm, b&w, 19min), which will be screened alongside some of her earlier films and one by Maya Deren. The programme celebrates the forthcoming publication of the Lux DVD compilation of Pucill’s films. After the screening the filmmaker will be in conversation with writer and artist Lucy Reynolds, who has written one of the essays
in the DVD booklet.
