From today, Monday 8th September, four specially BBC Four channel idents commissioned by LUX will air to celebrate a new season, BBC Four Goes Abstract: When Art Broke Free. To mark BBC Four’s abstract art season, four LUX artists have produced brand new BBC Four idents, each inspired by the spirit of abstraction. The idents have been created by 2013 Turner Prize winning artist Laure Prouvost; acclaimed artists John Smith; Sebastian Buerkner and this year’s Turner Prize nominee James Richards. From Monday 8th September 2014 – Sunday 14th September 2014, every single BBC Four junction will be taken over by the new idents. They can also be seen on BBC Arts Online, alongside a series of short films about abstract art and a great series of films from the BBC Archive on abstract art which is available on the BBC iPlayer.
