Strain Andromeda The, Anne McGuire, 1992

New series of artists’ film screenings and discussions reflecting on the current moment.
For our first Screening Room event we proudly present Anne McGuire’s 1992 angular mesmerising classic Strain Andromeda The a shot by shot reverse re-edit of Robert Wise’s paranoid virus from outer space thriller.
“…every action is followed by its stimulus, every comment by its query, you find yourself in a dizzying spin, grasping desperately for causal certainty, yet firmly held by the reversibility of suspense.” – Steve Seid, Pacific Film Archive
Attendees will receive a private link to watch the film at their leisure for 48 hours before the discussion and then we will be joined in person by Anne McGuire live from San Francisco at 6pm (BST) on Thursday 2 July to discuss the film with Benjamin Cook, LUX Director and audience members.
This event is presented with the support of Video Data Bank in Chicago.
This screening/event is FREE but if you are able please consider making a donation to these causes. Anne has nominated 2 not-profit arts organisations in San Francisco and Richmond, CA who support individuals with learning disabilities and the differently-abled.
