In this talk, LUX Artist in Residence Roman Štětina will discuss his artistic practice and present a number of works that focus on the process of producing moving images and on the gap between sound and image. Stetina has also invited his friend and collaborator Jiří Havlíček to screen a 16mm film Film Week(2016, 12 min), which echoes some of Štětina’s current projects and research.
Štětina’s work investigates the ways in which broadcast media including film, television and radio are created. His videos, installations and sculptures foreground the props, studios and technologies that are otherwise hidden behind the sounds and images received by an audience. His residency at LUX (September to November 2017) is organized in collaboration with the Czech Centre London with the support of the Arts Institute in Prague.
