– 11 October, 2017
5.30pm – 7.30pm
LUX
Waterlow Park Centre

Shambhavi Kaul’s cinematic constructions conjure uncanny, science-fictive non-places. Described as creating “zones of compression and dispersion,” her work utilizes strategies of montage and recirculation, inviting an affective response while simultaneously measuring our ability to know what we encounter. In this public lecture, Shambhavi Kaul will present a number of her films and discuss her artistic practice.

Her most recent film Hijacked is screening at the BFI London Film Festival on Sunday 8th October 2017.

Doors open at 5.15pm for a 5.30pm start.
Please note there will be no late admissions. Waterlow Park closes at sunset and all gates into the park will be locked at 6pm.

Shambhavi Kaul has exhibited her work worldwide at venues such as the Toronto International Film Festival, the Berlinale, The New York Film Festival, the London Film Festival, the International Film Festival Rotterdam, The Edinburgh International Film Festival, Internationale Kurzfilmtage Oberhausen, Experimenta India, and the 2014 Shanghai Biennale. She exhibits her work in Mumbai at Jhaveri Contemporary. She is also Assistant Professor at Duke University in the Department of Art, Art History and Visual Studies.
