LIKE CARAMEL THAT HAS MELTED AND IS SOFT AND STRETCHY

20 May, 2017
– 20 May, 2017
5pm-7pm
Pump House Gallery
Battersea Park, London, SW11 4NJ

As Summer takes over the city, London’s parks and public spaces swell with people, festivals, events becoming transitory hospitality suites for the Capital’s inhabitants.

Celebrating and interrogating these ebbing and flowing pools of leisure, culture, fitness and abandonment, Pump House Pavilion and LUX present an evening of moving image, interactive and performative works that explore various sites of leisure-time and cultural activity. Considering how our concepts of happiness, enjoyment, wellness and social fulfillment are informed, engaged with and shared, the programme also questions this capitalisation of experience.
The Caramel Club’s hospitality team invite you to join us at the Pump House Pavilion on Saturday 20 May 5pm-7pm for two hours of complimentary membership. Drop in at any time to partake in Karaoke with Laure Prouvost’s grandmother, build sandcastles under Raphael Montanez Ortiz’ Beach Umbrella, lose yourself in Ian Henghes’ transcendental audio-video-scapes and pick up health advice for new mothers and travel tips for doctors from Helen Carmel Benigson’s latest research. The Question Is: Is This Entertainment, Is This Art? (asks Tamara Krikorian).

Or why not time your visit to coincide with one of our specially selected sessions? With no booking required, these sessions are designed to enhance your wellbeing and help you make the most of your precious leisure-time:
17:30 – OPERA AUTONOMA: GYMNASIA, 2014 (10mins 30secs)

As part of the Wandsworth Arts Fringe, Pump House Pavilion has been created specially for the Pump House Gallery forecourt, designed by NEON architects in collaboration with Elliot Wood structural engineers and pupils from Chestnut Grove Academy in Balham. Taking influences from the construction sites currently found in the surrounding area this spectacular space will house a variety of events, screenings, workshops and other activities over the course of Wandsworth Arts Fringe.
