As neither one space nor another, Patrick Staff presents an installation with films and readings developed during his current residency with The White Building and LUX. Dreams of Travel (Laveta Terrace, Shacklewell Lane) explores hospitality and care, intergenerational queer relationships, travel and illness, invoking a provisional social space, cinema and theatrical set where a temporary community may gather. Taking thematic aspects embedded in the organisation as a means to navigate the LUX collection, this screening event will unfold and open up Staff’s research into how a collection is formed and constituted, and the communities that produce and are produced by it. Incorporating works from the LUX collection, these questions are drawn out through the care of a body (of work), its distribution and presence in public and private lives.
Patrick Staff is the inaugural White Building/LUX Collection Residency artist.
