With Work Programme collective-iz attempts to demystify the working life of the artist addressing and exploring various aspects of work, labour and indeed, jobs as something that plays a big part in our daily lives and consequently within our practices.

This programme originally initiated from video and film pieces by collective-iz members: Karolina Raczynski and Maria Anastassiou; materialising from their own working days these works like others in the programme were made ‘on the job’- blurring the boundaries between work and art-making. Whether provoked by boredom and/or the need to weave creativity into mundane tasks, a response to the working environment or diminishing processes and aesthetics in the digital age; these works explore ways that artists and experimental filmmakers have historically and contemporarily navigated labour, making and process. We are delighted to include a live reading by postman/writer Kevin Boniface.
