The LUX Critical Forum is a free monthly discussion, development and support group for artists who work with the moving image. The aim of the group is to develop a new mutually supportive environment for the members in dialogue with LUX and the other LUX-supported Critical Forum groups in Glasgow, Dublin, Dundee, Cornwall, Belfast and Bristol. Over the year the group will work together with LUX’s support to explore the potential of the group situation for peer-learning, mutual critical and material support and development. As well as a monthly meeting the group with collectively develop a curriculum of activities for the members, drawn from free cultural events in London. While the group is convened and supported by LUX it is run by and for its members on a collective basis, and thus demands a degree of collective commitment from group members.
Minimum commitment is one meeting per month, usually on the first Monday of the month, 7-10pm at LUX in Waterlow Park, Highgate.
The forum is open to all artists who work with the moving image as part of their practice who are no longer in full-time education and who are willing to commit to the group as a participant for the next 12 months. After it begins the group works together for 12 months and no new members can join during this time.
There will be a preliminary meeting on Thursday 7th September at 7pm to discuss how the group works and what it might do over the coming year. If you are interested in joining please register to attend this first meeting to find out more and decide whether it is something you would like to be part of at Eventbrite and we will send you information closer to the time. Please only book if you really intend to come as space in the group is limited and this deprives others of a possible place.
